A Kier BAM joint venture has now signed contracts with EDF Energy to carry out £100m+ of site preparation works for the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station in Somerset. Keir BAM have chosen Mosaic Management Systems to help them manage their workforce on this project by delivering an online health & safety platform for the duration.
The work that Keir BAM have been engaged to complete includes excavation, earthworks, terracing, the installation of construction site infrastructure and formation of roads and networks to allow main construction to start. The contract is estimated to create 350 jobs.
The Mosaic systems will be used to record the delivery of safety briefings and toolbox talks in real-time. In addition, the SkillCheck module will be used to check workforce competencies and monitor them over the contract duration. Assets will also be tracked using the Mosaic RFID technology, that flags up who is using what, and also helps schedule inspections and maintenance.
John Micciche, Mosaic’s MD commented “We are happy that Keir BAM have chosen to use our system on this ground-breaking project. Our system is already employed at the Hinkley site with another client, so it is great to extend our footprint further on this lengthy build.”
